Mukiria Technical Training Institute
Mukiria Technical Training Institute is located 9 km from Meru and 6 km from Meru town and 6 km from Nkubu along Meru- Embu highway. It was started in 1985 as a youth polytechnic. It was assessed and upgraded to a Technical Training Institute by then Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology in 2011 and started its operations in 2013. The first intake was in January 2014.
Vision
To be a Center of excellence in the development and provision of innovative Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs in Kenya and beyond.
Mission
To nurture and impart Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) knowledge, skills and attitudes through research, innovation and technology for self reliance and National Development.
Objective
To offer hands on training in technical skills with strong component of entrepreneurship for self employment which is in line with our motto Excellence in skills and competence.
The institute targets all students who are unable to access University Education. This is in line with Kenya Vision 2030 where the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions are one of the key drivers to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing middle level income country, providing a high delivery of life to all its citizens by 2030 in a clean and secure environment.

Strategic Planning.
The strategic plan of Mukiria Technical Training Institute has been formulated through an all inclusive participatory process. It articulates the Institute’s vision for Kenya’s TVET system and identifies the strategic imperatives to be implemented during the next five years. The purpose of the strategic planning is to undertake the following:
1. To present key milestones in the institution TVET program.
2. To present the institutes ideology on the TVET‘s strategic option identified and modalities for the national respective agenda as a foundation for Vision 2030.
3. To avail a tool for engagement and negotiation between the Government, key stakeholders and collaborators regarding the financing of TVET.
4. To provide a basis for resource targeting.
5. To provide a basis for program Implementation and performance evaluation.
