The Ministry of Education, under the leadership of Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba, in partnership with officials from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), will release the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results today, January 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
The official announcement will be made at A.I.C Chebisaas School in Moiben, Uasin Gishu County, near Eldoret, marking a moment of anticipation and relief for more than 929,000 candidates who sat for the national examinations.
In line with established protocol, the results will be publicly released after a formal State House briefing in Nairobi. On Wednesday evening, President William Ruto was briefed by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba and senior education sector officials ahead of the release.
KNEC has confirmed its preparedness by activating the online results portal. Candidates will be able to access their provisional results immediately after the official announcement by entering their index number and selecting the 2025 examination year. The portal will allow candidates to view, download, and print their results slips, although KNEC has cautioned that temporary delays may occur due to high traffic shortly after the release.
In a notable policy shift, candidates will now collect their KCSE certificates from Sub-county education offices, a move aimed at enhancing accountability and improving records management.
The State House briefing remains a standard ceremonial procedure preceding the public release of national examination results, with the Ministry of Education and KNEC traditionally presenting the final examination report to the President before the results are officially made public.
