In Kenya’s latest school clustering update, Kiambu County’s national schools have increased from 9 to 15, reflecting a strong commitment to accessible, inclusive, and quality education. Previously, Kiambu had only nine national schools, mainly academic giants like Alliance and Mang’u. Now, with the inclusion of newer institutions and special needs schools, more learners across different abilities and backgrounds can access high-level education closer to home.

Old National Schools
Mang’u High School is one of Kenya’s oldest and most prestigious national boys’ schools. It is known for its academic excellence, discipline, and for producing national leaders.

New National Schools
Due to its great performance, St. Francis Girls’ High School (Mang’u) was recently classified from an extra-county school to a National school. This will create more opportunities for all students wishing to study any of the three career pathways in this school.

St. Anne’s Secondary School – Lioki could not be left behind as the newest national school in Kiambu. Its steady and improved academic performance has enabled the re-clustering. .
Precious Blood Kagwe Girls Secondary School, a Catholic-sponsored girls’ school celebrated for its good discipline, holistic training, and impressive KCSE results. In 2025, it joined the list of national schools in Kenya.
Thika High School is a long-standing boys’ secondary school with solid academic and co-curricular performance. It was also elevated to national status.
