Study Tips and Techniques: We have highlighted some effective study tips and techniques to aid you to understand how to study and better your performance in any academics that you are undertaking. You can easily strengthen your study skills as well as get yourself on the right track to realizing those better grades or A’s in your exams.

Individuals with better learning methods as well as strategies score higher on their exams. The study is not just on the eve of an exam or an assignment, but though out ones academics. It’s never too early – or too late – to cultivate good study habits. The earlier you get into a good study habit, the easier everything will be and the more your chances of getting better grades will improve.

Different strategies and methods work out different for individuals; the following are only guidelines on strengthening your current studying techniques

1.    Plan Your Time
Planning your time helps you to have the most of your study time. We all have equal time; it only depends on how well you utilize it.
Set Alarms – Set alarms to remind you about your study plans.
Use a Time Table – Create a time table to guide you on what to study. Note the dates for exams and when the assignments are due.
Set Time Limits for each subject – There are some subjects or topics that need more time than others. But remember all subjects are equal and need equal attention.

2.    Select/ Pick a Place of Study and Time
Find out the best place you can study with very minimal disturbance, it can either be a library, your room, study room and stick with it.  The study area should be comfortable, quiet and without distractions that would draw away your attention.
Find out your best time to study, some people work better in the morning, others work better at night. Plan your timetable on the hours that you can study better.
As much as possible avoid your own bed; it is very tempting to lie down and take a nap

3.    Make Study a Habit
Study every day, this will enable you to review the topics and understand the topics. It also assist you to avoid the stress of last-minute cramming and trying to understand the topic. Prioritize some subjects or topics that are much harder to have a review on them much often.  Start out by studying the most important information.

4.    Review and Revise
Always review the topics taught right after class when it’s still fresh in your memory. Also at least once a week you should revise all the work taught in class over that week. Do not cram but understand each topic or subject in your own words and the able to explain.
Do quizzes or questions related to that particular topic this will enable you understand more at the same time know how questions are set and your weak points.

5.    Ask Questions
If you do not understand something or do not know how to go about it ask for help. Your teacher or lecturers will always be there to assist you. Ask your friends or class mates as they will always know something that you do not know.

6.    Have a Break
While studying, have a break, this will help increase your performance. Studying for too long or when tired decreases your concentration and performance.

7.    Take care of yourself
You will study better when your mind is at peace. Make sure you eat well and get enough sleep and physical exercise.

8.    Be attentive in  Class
Be a good listener, try as much as possible to understand what the teacher or lecturer is teaching and emphasizing on. Your revision will be much easier.

9.    Take Notes
While studying, take notes and write down a summary of the main points. This will assist you remember with ease at the time of revision.
