Christian Industrial Training Centre Nairobi (CITC-Nairobi) is situated next to St John’s Church Pumwani, behind Pumwani Maternity Nairobi Kenya.
The college was started in 1958 by the Anglican Church to equip disadvantaged girls and boys from the nearby Majengo slums with vocational skills and cultivate in them a good character and attitude in order to enhance chances of securing honest livelihood.
CITC Pumwani Nairobi began as a football club that engaged the youth in productive activities that distracted them from engaging in stealing and indiscipline acts that were taking place in the neighbourhood. In 1960, in consultation with the local community, the founder members set up a vocational training institute. The centre started with only 10 students. Later the courses expanded to seven courses. The instructors and teachers were volunteers from England , Australia and New Zealand.
In 1992, CITC was registered by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to offer Artisan Certificate Level Courses.
In 2006, the Centre was accredited by City & Guild examination body in the UK and Craft Level courses with Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC). However the following courses were introduced in the year 2001.
