Hauchi hauchi unakucha, Naam, siku niliyosubiri kwa hamu na ghamu iliwadia. Nikiwa na furaha tele nilitoka kitandani na nilielekea kwa dirishani na kutazama nje. Kwa kweli jua lilikuwa limechomoza na ndege waliimba nyimbo zao mola.

Kwa vile sikutaka kuchelewa nilielekea bafuni kuoga. Siku hii ilikuwa ya muhimu kwa vile dada yangu angefunga akidi. Ili kuhakikisha nilipendaza, niliivaa nguo yangu niliyoipenda. Kuelekea sebuleni, waja walikuwa mamefurika furifuri hadi mlangoni. Wavyele wangu walikuwa na furaha riboribo na nyuso zao ziling’aa kwa furaha.

Mapambo hatimaye yalianza. Magari yalipambwa yakapambika. Bi harusi naye hakuachwa nyuma. Alirembwa na kurembeshwa si kidigi. Baada ya nusu saa, matayarisho yote yalikuwa yamemalizika. Bi arusi aliliabiri gari la mwisho na msafara ukang’oa namga kuelekea maabadini.

Knisani nako kulikuwa kumepambwa vilivyo. Vibofu vya rangi nyeupe, majano na samawati vilining’inia kote. Muziki mtamu uliskika pande zote. Kanisa lilikuwa limjaa waja hata kuwatema wengine. Bwana harusi alifika kanisani wa kwanza na alionekana mtanashati na nadhifu kwa suti yake nyeupe pepepe

Sisi tuliowasili tulimngoja bi harusi kwa muda wa nusu saa. Bwana harusi, msomi sadfa, alionekana kuwa na wasiwasi mwingi. Aliitoa runu yake akitaka kumpigia bi harusi lakini haikusaidia. Ghafla, gari lililombeba liliwasiri na sisi wote tulishusha pumzi na kutulia. Bwana harusi alipomwona dadangu, alitabasamu na kuyaonyesha meno yake meupe kama theluji. Maarusi, Peter na Rose walikuwa wamekutana mwaka mmoja uliopita. Urafiki wao ulikuwa wa dhati na mwishowe ukawa mapenzi. Hatimaye waliamua kufunga pingu za maisha na siku hiyo ilikuwa imewadia. Wote walionekana kuwa na furaha tolatola. Kasisi alianza kwa funzo fupi kuhusu ndoa, kisha aliwaita maarusi mbele ya kanisa pale madhabahuni.

Alopokuwa akitaka kuwaunganisha, kishindo kilisikika mlangoni. Kila mtu akageuka kuutazama. Kidosho mmoja alisimama mlangoni akiwa na mtoto mkononi. ‘Peter huwezi funga ndoa, mtoto huyu ni wako’, alisema kwa hamaki. Jasho jembamba likimtiririka yule binti na alioneka mwenye huzuni.

Kasisi alimuita yule binti kwenye ofisi yake naye peter akaingia kule akiwa na viongozi wa kanisa. Maskini dada yangu alilengwa na machozi. Baada ya maelezo, tuligundua kuwa kisura yule alikuwa ahali yak Peter. Mtoto yule naye alikuwa mwana wake Peter. Dadangu Rose, aliposikia hayo alitoka kanisani huku akilia.Waja kanisani walimtupia matusi Peter wakiondoka mmoja baada ya mwingine.

Waliotamani kuonja keki walikuwa wameambulia patupu. Tangu siku hio, sisi sote hatujamwona Peter wala hatufahamu aliko. Kwa kweli ilikuwa siku siku isiyotamanika. Sherehe iliambulia patupu na matukio ya siku hiyo hayawezi kuzikika katika kaburi la mghafala.
