2020 Form One Selection

2020 Form One Selection- Form one selection for the student who sat for their KCPE in 2019 started on 03 Dec 2019.  The country has approximately 10,000 secondary schools in which the 1,083,456 students are expecting to get an allocation. The number of secondary school in Kenya is as follows

Number of schools

National schools                                  15

Extra County schools                           734

County schools                                    1412

Sub County schools                             6,451

Private schools                                    1,164

When applying for the form one selection, class eight candidates are excepted to choose 4 National Schools, 3 Extra County Schools, 2 County Schools and 2 Sub-county schools. In short a student normally selects a total of 11 schools. In 2019, the selection process was fair as the top students in each area in the county got an allocation to a national school. This means pupils in marginalized areas with lower marks still had an access to the National schools. Since the selection process was done electronically it means that no manipulation was expected. The allocation to National schools, Extra-county schools, County schools and Sub-county schools was done based on merit.  Since the government is aiming at 100 percent transition to secondary schools more students got an allocation at County and Sub county schools.
